Volunteers Needed for the Torrance Criterium

We need your help! This year’s Torrance Criterium is on May 18, so it’s time to step up and volunteer! This bike race is our primary fundraiser for the year.

We need help starting now with sponsorship recruiting. There are multiple levels of sponsorships available. For more information on sponsorship levels, download the sponsor sell sheet: http://peninsulacc.com/images/sponsor sell sheet 3-6-14.pdf.

Other tasks we need help with over the upcoming months include: race card distribution at bicycle races (x4 volunteers), flyer delivery to course businesses (x2), tow-away notification placement on cars parked on the course (x1), and course sweeping (x6).

On race day we need help with: course marshals (x10), race registration (x5), prize coordination (x2), event setup (x6) and event cleanup (x6).

Putting on a race this size requires the concerted effort of a large team. We need your help to make this race successful. Any effort you can make will be greatly appreciated.

Setup is one hour (6-7AM)
Course Marshall is five hours (7-12PM and 12-5PM)
Clean-up is one hour (4-5PM) - might be 4:30-5:30PM
Course sweeping is about 2-3 hours the day before (until we lose the light)

2014 Steve Hartt Ride Update

This year's Steve Hartt San Pedro to San Diego ride is scheduled for Saturday, July 26.

The PenCC discount policy has changed this year for the ride: you'll have to join the club or renew your membership by February 15 to qualify for the $25 club member discount! 

This year the price for the ride is going up. Previously PenCC subsidised the price, losing money on the ride (about $1700 a yr.), as a gesture of thanks to the membership.

This year we're looking to break even, so the ride cost for non-PenCC members will be $150, with PenCC members getting a $25 discount (equals the cost of membership).

The ride is renown for its amenities: two sag vehicles, four rest stops with superior nutritionals (Hammer) and snacks, top-notch box lunch (Lisa's Bon Apetit), spa within walking distance for getting cleaned up after the ride, dinner at Buca di Beppo, truck ride home for your bike, bus ride home for you. All included in the price of the ticket.

2013 The Bike Palace Torrance Criterium

At The Bike Palace we're immensely proud to be this year's title sponsor for the Torrance Criterium. This is the 17th year for the criterium, and it's one of the premier bike races in Los Angeles. This year's race will be held on August 11. The first race starts at 7:00AM, with the last race starting at 4:05PM. We're still looking for volunteers to work the event. 2014 Steve Hartt San Pedro to San Diego Ride

NOTE: Tickets are no longer available online for this year's Steve Hartt Ride. There are three tickets left as of 7/7. Call The Bike Palace to check on availability. 

The incredible 2014 PenCC Steve Hartt San Pedro to San Diego Ride is coming up on July 26. Here's a rundown of what the event offers:

  • Riders meet in San Pedro at 5:45AM, leaving at 6:30AM. Destination: Old Town San Diego.
  • There are four rest stops which are amply supplied with the highest quality nutritionals (Hammer), along with luscious fruit, Snickers, etc.
  • There's also a lunch stop (provided).
  • Sag wagons to assist you with minor mechanical issues.
  • Riders begin arriving in San Diego @ 2:30PM. 
  • Bikes are loaded on the truck in bump-free racks.
  • We get cleaned up at a nearby spa.
  • We have dinner at Buca di Beppo (provided).
  • We get in a luxury bus and ride home! We get back to San Pedro around 10:30PM.

This event is a bargain. PenCC members who renewed their memberships by 2/15/14 pay $125, all others pay $150. Interested? Take a look at photos from the 2011 event and the video.
